Morning Weather Gang!

Well it finally happened! We got 2.5" of white fluffy SNOW. So now grand-Pa can play with the grand kids outside this weekend!

I slept in the AM, so it's 6 AM I've been thru my coffee, and it's time to go out and shovel off the driveway!

Hope everyone is warm this morning, and enjoy your weekend!

Hey, Chief, How much snow did you get out of this snow storm???

A sunny 44 degrees in central GA.  Our friends left an hour ago, headed for FL and warm weather - but I see you in the deep south are "cold" too.  Hope a freeze doesn't get the oranges & strawberries.  Plant City berries are in our grocery now.  Yay!

Good Morning GrandPaGardener!  It is freezing here! Just checked the Saginaw's weather and they are having about the same weather as Toledo. We are not as cold as you are, you are having some brutual wind chills. We have a 50% chance of snow for us through the weekend.  Thanks for weekend wishes! I think it will be fun...so nice to get out of Toledo for a couple of days.

It is 12 degrees with a wind chill of -5 in Toledo, Ohio.

Chief, So sorry that you had a very cold night, I think I saw that you will warming up soon.  Hang on for the warmer weather and stay warm!

Joyce and Jan, sorry that your having a cold snap down in Fl.  Hopefully it will not last to long.

Going to be meeting a friend for breakfast, gotta scoot...........stay warm, Friends!!

"Baby, it's COLD Outside"!!!  Well, winter is definitely here in N IL. We're at -3, with the wind chill of -20 below! It would be nice to hace a little snow so it would look like winter!!!

If I'm at -3, I can imagine Chief's teeth is chattering with the cold weather!

Joyce and Jan, bummer, to bad to hear it's so cold down in your area!!!

Seashelly, I think your stuck along with me with the cold weather. I Hope you enjoy your weekend......... - LOL!

Sailspinner, I am sorry that you lost one of your tree's and damage to your chain link fence.  That is the kind of fence that I have too. I hope you can get some rest and get a nap in today.  Take Care!

Your right GrandPa, it does take along time for trees to grow.  It is allot of work cutting up a tree, been there done that here at our current house.  The hard part is carrying the wood, it is SO HEAVY! Yep, it is good exercise...you do not think about while your using the chainsaw and carrying the wood.  Until you start to feel the muscle aches!

No cure for pine beetle we know of except the clear out all pines but we have so many trees we don't mind losing all of the pines.  It's a chain link fence.

Sailspinner, Sorry to hear of your loss! It takes a long time for trees to grow! Is there anyway to stop the pine beetle??

We lost 9 large trees last yr in storms. It wasn't fun. The tree trimming folks were stopping by 3 and 4 a day wanting to cut up the trees. Had I paid to have them cut them up, it was over $11,000. So I cut them up and shreaded the brush for mulch. So I've got lots of fire wood, and mulch out of it! - LOL not to mention the exercise........

Sailspinner, I take it you have a wood privacy fence.  Good thing you have a Son who is handy and he can fix it for you.  Glad that is the only damage you had from the storm.  I sure miss our tree in the front yard.  We lost half the tree last Spring as the wind gust split the half the trunk and huge tree limb came down.  I have a big tree in the back....only about 10 ft. from the house, so I get worried when the high winds come.  That is a huge amount of money for the tree people to do that job. Wow!

Only damage is to our fence but our son has become expert at repairing it.  Pine beetles are killing our pines (about 100 of them and we've already lost 3 dozen during storms) so they pop bark & fall.  It's our son's property and he's trying to learn how to drop a tree the way he wants it to fall.  Trial & error.  Tree people want around $8k to do the job so it has become more of a diy.

Good Morning Sailspinner, You sure did have a terrible night.  Glad you are allright and safe.  Sorry to hear that you lost power and a tree came down.  Hoping you do not have any damage to your home.  That had to be scary for your friends travelling and hearing the tornado sirens going off.  Thank God, they were able to get off the highway and find a hotel and they are safe.  I am scared of tornado's.  I have never seen one...however my Mom use to live in a small town called Van Wert it is about 2 hours S. of me.....I remember working that Sunday in November....and a friend/co-worker of mine came over and told me that she just heard that a tornado hit Van Wert.......my heart just sunk.....not knowing if she was ok.  So luckily she was ok!  The movie theater was pretty much destroyed, Industrial park buildings with lots of damage, and people's homes.  I do believe their were a few people who lost their lives..it happened about 11 years ago.

We had a windy night here....not nearly as bad as GA.  The wind chimes were going all over the place so I had to take them down.  Right now it's 22 degrees with light snow falling.  Could have some wind gusts over 40 - mph today.  I think the wind chimes will not go up today.

Stay warm Friends!!
