Snow Update!
Well we got more snow than I anticipated! We ended up with between 7" and 8" depending on who you listen to! We may see a couple more inches today, as well as tomorrow. But that will not be a big deal!
So it's time to kickback this morning, watch the glow in the fireplace and have some coffee!!!!
Chief, How are you doing out in KC! Are you still buried????
Seashelly, and you, how did you make out with all that ice and rain?
Cheers! - AL
Well, the weather has really changed to say the least!!!!! We were supose to start out with rain, then sleet, then snow! Well that didn't happen, we started out with snow, and it never stopped!!!!
Since lunch time, we have received over 4" of the white stuff, along with high winds, and blowing and drifting snow! Snow is coming down at an inch an hour at times. As the snow is soooooo, wet, it's compressing after if falls. So it's going to be hard to tell exactly how much we did receive!
This freezing rain can stop anytime now..the tree brances are getting weighed down, I am not sure how much ice we have so far. Icy branches are leaning on the power lines....Yikes!
Sunny, no wind, 57 degrees (don't think we'll reach the 70 predicted). Not to rub it in - just to remind you that the world exists outside of snow, rain, freezing. Red squirrels are chasing each other all around an over the trees outside the window.
Winds have picked up a lot! Raining now with some freezing rain.
Well, it's 10:48 AM and it's hear!!!!
Wind switched out of the EAST now, it's so windy, all the birds left the bird feeders once the wind switched! Now we are receiving small round snow balls on-again, the off, then back on! Time for another pot of Coffee..............
Morning Update! Still looking for the snow!!!!
Just went out to get more logs for the fire, and it is W I N D Y!!!! But no snow! - LOL. So time for more coffee, and throw another log on the fire!!!!
Cheers!!!
Morning Seashelly, Chief, Sailspinner, Glad to hear everyone is doing OK!
Boy, here in IL, you would think the end of the world is coming..... The news crews are driving around trying to find snow falling, they are taking pictures of the large piles of salt in the local maintenance yards and taking pictures of the salt trucks being filled with salt last night, etc.....
Now if you look at the NOHAA radar, and their projected storm path, we have had snow above us since early this morning, it's just not coming down. Then the 6-10" snow band has been removed, and there is a small 4-6" snow band to the south of Chicago.
Now the temps are still running 35-36 degrees outside, so even if it starts to snow, it's going to melt!!!!
My guess, most of it is going south once again, we will get lots of RAIN and maybe, maybe, 1-2" of the white stuff!!!!
Now, we have to worry about our friends down in GA and FL floating away!!!! Have some friends that left last week to 2-3 wks in FL. and the weather hasn't been good for them at all!
Cheers!!!
Good Tuesday Morning Friends!
The sun is shining, I am sure we will be losing the sun before long. We are under a Winter Weather Advisory. This forecast today is going to be tricky, all depends on the temperatures. Rain on the way, than changing to sleet...with the winds starting to pick up. Going to be a raw, damp and chilly one. Guess we are not going to dodge the snow. Could get up to 3" by morning. Nothing compared to our friends in KS and MO! Got to feel for them and am sending prayers their way. Glad to hear chief, that you are in the two to four range. Wow, you sure did get lucky. Stay safe and warm!
Today is a do nothing day on tap here. So let it rain, sleet, and snow!
I hope everyones day will be a really good one.
