more than texting, huh? well, at this point, the least expensive way to get to email and FB and here is gonna' be a laptop, which you should be able to get for under $400.
the "tablets" might be less expensive, but the options are so variable, either you'd need a computer geek to help you choose, or you're just taking pot luck.
neither the tablets nor an iPad will have an actual keyboard, only the touchscreen thingee for typing -- one finger typing, basicly.
i'm hearing that most hospitals have wifi now, so any of 'em ought to work for you, in that respect.
the iPads are neat, i see other people using them, and probably not much more expensive than the low end laptop, but there's just no keyboard -- for me, that'd be a dealbreaker, but it might not bother you. you want something you'll be able to keep on using after you get home, i'm assuming? if you have a fairly new PC at home, you might be able to rent a laptop for the time you're away....
I hadn't thought about renting a laptop, my PC is almost 4 years old....so having a laptop would be good to have after I get home...and I could use the mouse on it too!! Hmmmm I will need to think about some more....but no matter what I choose....more then likely it will be a laptop...if I can part with the money...lol....j/k of course I would b/c in the long run..if anything should happen to PC I would have the laptop to fall back on..and be able to use the keyboard and mouse as well. :)
yes, if your PC is that old, it won't hurt to have the laptop, and too, you can use the laptop anywhere, doesn't have to be sitting at a desk. PLUS, if you have a good-sized monitor, you can hook that up to the laptop (sitting on a desk, of course) -- that's the setup i have now, since my desktop died last May. i have my sister's laptop, sitting off to the side, with a monitor, a keyboard, and a mouse. i finally gave in and hooked up the monitor because i couldn't get full screen with characters big enuf to read w/o glasses on the laptop's display! just endlessly frustrated, so i had to do something different....
yep for sure.....I''ve been looking around in Wal Mart of course, my GF on
the other site, thinks the laptop is what I should go with...b.c I will be able
to use and give the PC a rest LOL :) I'll keep y'all updated for sure!! :)
