Occasionally, I come across a sentence, thought or phrase in a book or story that really stands out (to me , at least) and I quickly jot it down on a post-it, index card, or passing motor vehicle and is all too soon lost, forever. 

So I thought about making a place to keep this stuff...like here.

The quote may not always stand on its own, out of context, and may require some explanation, attribution, and the like.

So here goes...

I am not a great Stephen King fan nor do I have any liking of the horror genre in general. A wise sage once stripped away the manly name "Bmichael" -  replacing it with “Shaking booty under blankets and screaming like a little girl" after I  read a story about a haunted hotel room. But King’s "The Stand" rates highly in my estimation of extraordinary, unique, skillful, spectacular story weaving and crafting of the highest order – and is scary in a different way

The above quote comes from the first book of “The Dark Tower” series, called simply “The Gunslinger”. This is not new stuff – it’s been around for awhile. But it can take you away – far away.
