The literary magazine of the college where I teach part-time is requesting submissions.   I am intrigued by the theme, so thought I'd pass it on to all of you.

The 2013 issue is seeking creative work on the theme of the traditional seven deadly sins (Anger, Vanity, Envy, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, Lust), but also others that may not fit any of those seven. Schadenfreude, for example, might be considered another. It’s also useful to reflect on the traits that Gandhi considered the most spiritually perilous to humanity: 1) Wealth without work; 2) pleasure without conscience; 3) science without humanity; 4) knowledge without character; 5) politics without principle; 6) commerce without morality; and 7) worship without sacrifice.

Oh, baybee! This was so beautifully written ... I could smell and taste the wonderful Osso Bucco stew.

Also reminded me of an Irish Setter I had years ago. (You know what's coming.) These were the days when I made elaborate pasta sauces with meat, tomatoes, garlic, basil, mushrooms, etc. We had company coming, so I'd made a huge batch and left it to cool on the stove. When I came back into the kitchen, I noticed the pot was empty and assumed my husband had put the sauce away. Looked in the frig and ... yep, nuttin'.

"MURPHY!" And back to the store for more makin's. Oh, baybee!

I took it as more wages of sin. Really nice writing, great peek into the malcontent's mind (but aren't all artists malcontents?). You made us hate her nicely before ... the fall. Great stuff, Westerly.

Not complaining (am making money, after all) but not much inspiration coming my way after crafting corporate word after corporate word all day! Keep 'em coming, tho ... you have a real audience here.
