Oh, my god, I'm really full.
I made a pork loin, collard greens & rice styx-cum-angel hair pasta w/garlic, butter, olive oil & parmesan cheese. That last bit didn't turn out so well; I discovered that rice styx need to be in a sauce.
I only bought & cooked the pork loin b/c I'm jonesing for some good Brunswick stew. I had mediocre Brunswick stew a couple of weeks ago, and it's left me craving some good stuff ever since. So I'll use half of the pork loin in the stew. mmmm..... I can't wait!
Well, I stopped at "The Hour" after work, which is out in the country about five miles or so from my little town. Some of my cronies congregate there 'most every day, starting at about 3PM. As usual, they were pounding down the brews, but I was on a food mission, so I just ordered a Coke. The daily special today was a hot roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes, smothered with gravy, of course, and green beans. Of course, that's what I ordered, as I was really attracted to those green beans. It was a very good meal. Once in a while my job takes me to our county courthouse, and "The Hour" is kinda between there and my home, and today was one of those days. "The Hour" is a beloved landmark around these parts....I like stopping in when I can. Several of the guys who were at "The Hour" today also frequent the greasy spoon on weekends, and this weekend, that fine establishment is due to reopen for the season.
Life is good.
