What are Grits?

For all you yankees who don't know what grits are...

What Are Grits?
Some folks believe grits are grown on bushes and are harvested by midgets by shaking the bushes after spreading sheets around them. Many people think grits are made from ground up bits of white corn. These are lies spread by Yankees, Communists and terrorists. Nothing as good as a Grits can be made from corn. Research suggests that the mysterious Manna that God rained down upon the Israelites during their time in the Sinai Desert was most likely Grits. Critics disagree, stating that there is no record of biscuits, butter, salt, and red eye gravy raining down from the sky, and that God would not punish his people by forcing them to eat Grits without these key ingredients.

Grits, uh?  Well, many years ago, when I was working in Jacksonville, Florida, one of the local guys I worked with took me under his wing, so to speak.  He perceived that I was more valuable alive than dead, at least from a workplace standpoint.

As part of my training on how NOT to get my smartass Yankee butt shot off, he advised me to cut up an "over easy egg, or eggs" into my grits.  Those grits were just fine that way.

I thus concluded that when my fellow Yankees complained about grits, it was much ado about nothing.

BTW, I was there just a little bit ahead of the national emergence of The Allman Brothers and Skynyrd, and that whole Southern Rock genre, but I did like me my country music, and that also helped me to be somewhat tolerated.
