It's a big part of why I do the radio thing. There is just so much great music out there that doesn't get played on standard radio. God knows, I don't expect everybody to like what I play or to thank me for it, but at least it's somethin' different.

Some of my greatest musical discoveries have come while driving in remote areas, where little independent radio stations with their own ideas about what sounds "good" send out their stuff on their modest little wattage, and it's pure luck that I (or anybody) happen to be passing through their range when a song hits like a thunderbolt. I consider it a privilege if I achieve as much.

I'm not afraid or too "big" to smile at the cashier...or the bagger and say 'thanks'....small talk can make for a big smile and a better day...maybe a little lighter load.
I feel sad for the one's who seem to start their day with a "better than thou and I have all the right answers" attitude. I have seen that here and have no use for it....it's a lower standard...not a higher one.

Service people often get a bad rap, particularly in industries where bad service is expected...the cable company for example :-) It's amazing what a little kindness towards these people can do...
