TBD on Ning

I've learned the hard way that it's best for me to follow directions the first time that I attempt to make something.  Whether it be something for dinner, sewing a pattern or brewing up some home grown crystal meth, I've found that I need to know what the thing I'm attempting to make is supposed to turn-out like at first.  The second time around I allow myself to get creative.

Are you brave when it comes to straying from the instructions?

I love reading recipe books.   Especially the old ones and those from different regions.  My mom wasn't a "cook" but she kept our bellies full.   My dad was the adventurous one.  Where ever we lived he took something good from the locals.

I like to cook.  I'm not too afraid of something new.  I've thrown plenty out, made a few hockey pucks in my day.

Baking is an art...must measure.

Do a lot of 'eyeballing' when it comes to measurements..is that okay?

I like reading them too.  I always plan to make a bunch of them, but rarely do.  The ones with pictures are the best.
