funny how they get pissed for getting caught saying something contradicting their public stance...but then of course if he really makes you hold your nose, perhaps you shouldn't be working to re-elect him

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign manager said in a taped telephone conversation earlier this year he was "sorta holding my nose" while doing the job, a less-than-flattering remark about a powerful GOP establishment figure struggling to shore up support among tea party voters back home in Kentucky.

In a brief telephone interview Thursday, Jesse Benton did not dispute the authenticity of the taping. "I'm not 100 percent positive. I'm not confirming that, but I'm not denying it either," he said.

In a separate statement emailed to reporters, he said, "It is truly sick that someone would record a private phone conversation I had out of kindness and use it to try to hurt me. I believe in Sen. McConnell and am 100 percent committed to his re-election."

I'm holding my nose too...

course a political aide being 1oo percent committed is like the hooker being 100 percent committed to the outcome too

Best thing this guy can do for Rand Paul is get rid of McConnell which begs the question, what is McConnell thinking?

to the right??? mcconnell already IS a right wing idealogue..the only way to go further right than paul is orchestrated anarchy as a philosophy termed 'libertarian' and welcome to survival of the fittest (the wealthiest)

McConnell is in the grips of the fear of being primaried and having to run to the radical right, which to some could not be the point as to his already totally "right" position.

The thing that could unwind the Republican hopes in 2014 is being dragged to extreme positions by the radical right and presented with non-electable candidates in general state and congressional elections.  Of course, for the Democrats, that should be a good thing, but, a lot of retirements and non-presidential election poses a problem as to if they will have the candidates.

Isn't it too late to worry about that?  "...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
