It was something that ended, or rather had an ending, the story of a chemistry teacher gone bad. Today, we don't have an ending, or even a start of one, as we move into the cliff hanger de jour as we are left(or is that right) as to the next act of the most recent Washington drama.

One result is that the traffic will be lighter on the Washington, Virginia, Maryland beltway tomorrow. The other is, a multi-billion dollar loss on Wall Street as the traders play the short on the American government. In the meantime Vegas has overwhelming odds as to the shutdown, but there is still a play on how long the shutdown will last. And the rest of America gets up, goes to work, talking, 'ow bout them Seahawks!

Its Morning in America, except this time it isn't Newt and Bill, it isn't the halcyon years of the 90's, it is the opposition of committed ideologues, ones that are the true believers that it is all or nothing because it is right, not left, to oppose just about anything the administration wants including what it already has, a complicate mess of a healthcare reform.

As to what will happen, it will be resolved. Resolved to fight another day, over the same issues as the month of October opens with more struggle, more drama and more of a mess that has to be dealt with, by someone.

One of the last moment compromises could be another Continuing Resolution, a clean one, but created to only postpone the issue to happen about the same time as the final moments of the debt ceiling debate. This new CR would force the Senate Democrats to take the poison pill one more time, and only make the bad guy, the president if he does not approve the 'relief' compromise.  All this will do is to provided another deadline fight, or if the president does approve doing a short CR, do a Putin on the president to make the make him a partner in what happens next.

I thought this would be about the Republican Speaker of the House's 5 martini lunches.  Anyone who knows an alcoholic recognizes John Boehner's behavior for what it is -alcoholic behavior.
