Arizona lawmaker refers to Obama as 'De Fuhrer' on Facebook

Like many Republican lawmakers, Brenda Barton is furious that the federal government shutdown has forced the closure of national parks.

Barton, an Arizona state representative, took to Facebook to express her fury in a series of status updates Monday. In one, she compared President Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler.

"Someone is paying the National Park Service thugs overtime for their efforts to carry out the order of De Fuhrer," Barton wrote. "[W]here are our Constitutional Sheriffs who can revoke the Park Service Rangers authority to arrest??? Do we have any Sheriffs with a pair?"

Fuhrer, the German term for leader, is most often associated with Hitler.

"While the POTUS continues to punish the American people," Barton continued, "he keeps open his golf course, he keeps open Camp David, and he retains his and his wife's excessive staff and stable of Czars! I'll bet he has kept in service his 3 food tasters!!!"

"The Chief Executive is acting as an Imperial President," she added, "without regard to his citizens, only caring about his agenda. With all the exemptions he has unilaterally bestowed on many interest groups, could he not delay the ACA Individual Mandate for a single year? Without regard for the elected House of Representatives. What do you call that?"

But it was the comparison to Hitler that drew criticism from many, including Arizona House Democrats.

"You owe an apology to the President, and Arizona for embarrassing us," Rep. Ruben Gallego wrote on Twitter. "You [are] potentially creating problems for many government employees. [W]hat you are saying is completely incorrect and illegal."

In an interview with the Arizona Capitol Times, Barton stood by the comparison.

“He’s dictating beyond his authority,” she said of Obama. “It’s not just the death camps. (Hitler) started in the communities, with national health care and gun control. You better read your history. Germany started with national health care and gun control before any of that other stuff happened. And Hitler was elected by a majority of people."

the arizona representative is an uneducated, ignorant fool. under the Antideficiency Law of 1874, it is illegal for anyone to incur debts on behalf of the united states and the federal government unless those debts are budgeted for by the government already. those who do incur debts without that authorization can be fined and/or imprisoned.thus the federal furloughs are essentially mandated by law because you can't have employees work unless they have been budgeted for in order to pay them. the parks and other federal properties and functions are closed for the very same reasons. and it would take a fool to leave properties open without staff or employees because of the liability that would be incurred in the event that anyone was killed or injured when there was no staff (if you have doubts, look to the lawsuits against states and counties over beaches having no lifeguards as an example. such lawsuits assume each and every beach should come equipped with a lifeguard.)

do you have problems in logic or in literacy? obviously to have employees come to work would be in violation of the law because it would 'incur debt on the behalf of the government' and the budget is what the fight is over......head smack.....

guess this explains it....

US adults score below average on worldwide skills test

WASHINGTON — It's long been known that America's school kids haven't measured well compared with international peers. Now, there's a new twist: Adults don't either.

In math, reading and problem-solving using technology — all skills considered critical for global competitiveness and economic strength — American adults scored below the international average on a global test, according to results released Tuesday.

Adults in Japan, Canada, Australia, Finland and multiple other countries scored significantly higher than the United States in all three areas on the test. Beyond basic reading and math, respondents were tested on activities such as calculating mileage reimbursement due to a salesman, sorting email and comparing food expiration dates on grocery store tags.

Will it never end? Just today, N.Y. Times writer Frank Bruni, in a column titled Let's ditch analogies that live in infamy, said "The hyperbole and hysteria make any constructive debate impossible, and they insult the past, robbing important events of the specific meaning and individual detail they deserve."

People making such comparisons are, indeed, ignorant and lack the ability to use language constructively.

there are times i despair....i read the comments after that article....and so many of the comments are about an illegal alien being president, obama dictating to the nation, being a muslim, being a communist, being a socialist.....the ignorance and bigotry is simply appalling.....one person even called hitler a socialist, not realizing that hitler was actually a fascist who LOVED big business and especially big business that was closely held so it could be partnered with the state. but it does show them trailerparks is agettin' all wired up to that internet thingie....(remember when the internet was populated by techie dorks instead of ignorant semi-literate fools?)
