TBD on Ning

I just got a laptop today with windows 8. Obviously I forgot to check the box for it to automatically go online when I turn it on or something because it won't let me sign in, just keeps telling me I'm offline and to use the last password used on this computer. Which I did, which then tells me it's offline and to use the last password used on this computer and again and again....I can't get past this screen. So I can't turn on the internet. So it's offline. Help, PLEASE. I didn't want to use a password to open it anyway but I must have missed that screen.

try safemode maybe...i am not familiar with windows 8...but in most windows systems, going into safemode lets you bypass some of this stuff...and you did set it up with 2 accounts right? a user account to go surf with (a limited account) and an administrator account to manage the computer (an unlimited account)... that might be where your problems lie...some setups have a little check box do this for all users or something similar

No, I didn't set up any accounts, unfortunately I just checked the windows thing that did the set up automatically, and I'm assuming that's why I didn't see anything about any kind of password. I signed up for a windows live/hotmail account which they insisted on and because that's the password they want and the computer isn't online, it can't connect to verify the password. What a pain in the arse...I of course have no idea how to get to safe mode and if I did I don't know that I would be able to bypass that sign in screen.

I don't know what I did but I eventually got back on without having to go in to safe mode.

I don't know about Win8, but in Win7 how you use safe mode is to start or restart the computer while continuously hitting the F8 key; that'll take you into safe mode.

and it is important....set up those two accounts....otherwise you surf in administrative mode which means if you download something bad, it installs with no barrier or if you get hacked when you are in the administrative account, the hacker can install anything he or she wants to.
