Upside Down

Every since Adam (Jim Sturgess) and Eden (Kirsten Dunst) fell in love as teens, their bond has faced astronomical odds. The pair are separated not just by social class and a political system bent on keeping them apart, but also by a freak planetary condition: they live on twinned worlds with gravities that pull in opposite directions—he on the poverty-stricken planet below, she on the wealthy, exploitative world above. Their budding but illicit romance screeches to a tragic halt when interplanetary-border patrol agents catch them and Eden suffers an apparently fatal fall. But when, ten years later, Adam learns she is alive and working at a vast corporation whose towering headquarters connects their planets, he sets out on a dangerous quest to infiltrate the company and the upper world to reconnect with her. UPSIDE DOWN is a visually stunning romantic adventure that poses the question: what if love was stronger than gravity?

Facing cutthroat competition from guerilla street magician Steve Gray (Jim Carrey), whose cult following surges with each outrageous stunt, even their show looks stale. But there's still a chance Burt and Anton can save the act—both onstage and off—if Burt can get back in touch with what made him love magic in the first place.

But the growing threat of nuclear war casts a shadow over their lives. Ginger (Elle Fanning) is drawn to poetry and protest, while Rosa (Alice Englert) shows Ginger how to smoke cigarettes, kiss boys and pray. Both rebel against their mothers: Rosa’s single mum, Anoushka (Jodhi May), and Ginger’s frustrated painter mother, Natalie (Christina Hendricks). Meanwhile, Ginger’s pacifist father, Roland (Alessandro Nivola) seems a romantic, bohemian figure to the girls. He encourages Ginger’s ‘Ban-the-Bomb’ activism, while Rosa starts to take a very different interest in him. As Ginger’s parents fight and fall apart, Ginger finds emotional sanctuary with a gay couple, both named Mark (Timothy Spall and Oliver Platt), and their American friend, the poet Bella (Annette Bening). Finally, as the Cuban Missile Crisis escalates – and it seems the world itself may come to an end – the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered. Ginger clutches at one hope; if she can help save the world from extinction, perhaps she too will survive this moment of personal devastation.

Language of a Broken Heart

LANGUAGE OF A BROKEN HEART is a fresh romantic comedy about love’s inherent possessiveness, and the realization that it’s not how you love, but who you love. With a cast of recognizable and up and coming actors, it’s a charming, engaging story about love, hate, and everything in between. This is the story of Nick (Juddy Talt, The Ghost Whisperer) a neurotic best-selling author on love, who can write eloquently on the subject, but can’t keep girls from leaving him. He gives his heart completely and unconditionally to his relationships without even thinking twice about it. Nick is the type of person who says I love you first, and two months too soon. After he comes back to his apartment in New York City to find his fiancé, Violet (Lara Pulver, True Blood, Da Vinci’s Demons) with another man, Nick seeks refuge with his long-time therapist; Adam (Oscar Nunez, The Office, The Italian Job), but Adam is more mixed up on love than Nick is. Nick decides to return to his hometown and to the only woman he had ever left, his mother, Mimi (Julie White, Transformers 1, 2 and 3, Lincoln, Go On). There, he renews his relationships with the people that matter the most, his family and friends, including reconnecting with his childhood best friend, Cubbie (Ethan Cohn, The Amazing Spiderman, United States of Tara, Gilmore Girls). By a simple twist of fate, he meets the free-spirited antiquarian bookseller Emma (Kate French, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, The L Word), who challenges him to let people appreciate him for who he is.

Tattoo Nation

Tattoos used to be a sign of rebellion. A middle finger salute to the rest of the world. Outlaw bikers got tattoos. Sailors on leave in Singapore got tattoos. Lifers in the joint got tattoos. Now, your mother's got a butterfly on her ankle and your kid's sporting a tramp stamp. What happened? When did tattoos go from the renegade, ready-made, carney cartoons inked as fast as possible to the art form they've become today? That transformation is the subject of the new documentary film, TATTOO NATION. TATTOO NATION tells how a few incarcerated but very talented Chicano artists changed the world of ink forever. It follows three tattoo pioneers, Charlie Cartwright, Jack Rudy and Freddy Negrete, and shows how a new, fine line style using detail and shading to achieve a remarkable realism revolutionized the world of ink.
