Open House - A woman trying to move on with her life is thrown into a potentially deadly situation in this independent thriller. Alice (Rachel Blanchard) has just broken up with her husband and has decided to sell the house they shared. Alice has been showing her home to prospective buyers when a strange couple sneaks into the house, David (Brian Geraghty) and Lila (Tricia Helfer). David and Lila are psychotic murderers who promptly kill a friend who was visiting Alice; Lila orders David to murder Alice as well, but for some reason he hesitates and instead locks her in a crawlspace in the basement. Over the next several days, David and Lily engage in kinky sex and pretend to live a life of bourgeois domesticity while slaughtering anyone who makes the mistake of stopping by the house; Alice, meanwhile, hears what's happening from her hiding place and begins to understand the strange bond between her captors and David's interest in her. Open House was the first feature film from director Andrew Paquin; his sister, Anna Paquin, appears in a supporting role, as does her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer.

Ghost Writer - A ghostwriter stumbles onto a secret that places his life in danger as he takes down the life story of a former U.K. prime minister in this Roman Polanski-helmed adaptation of the Robert Harris novel. Convinced by his agent that he's been granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, talented British screenwriter "The Ghost" (Ewan McGregor) agrees to aid British prime minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan) in completing his memoirs after the leader's former aid dies under mysterious circumstances. Almost immediately after The Ghost arrives at a remote mansion in the U.S. to begin working with the prime minister, Lang is accused of committing a war crime by a former British cabinet minister. Amidst a deluge of protestors and reporters, The Ghost delves into the unfinished manuscript and comes to the terrifying conclusion that his predecessor died because he discovered a link between Prime Minister Lang and the CIA. The more information The Ghost uncovers, the more convinced he becomes that his life could be in danger as well.

Diary of a Whimpy Kid - Hapless preteen Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon) endures bullies, swirlies, morons, and wedgies while navigating the treacherous world of middle school and recording his traumas in his personal journal in this familyoriented comedy inspired by author Jeff Kinney's best-selling series of illustrated novels. Try as he might, Greg just can't understand who thought it was a good idea to place kids who haven't even hit their first growth spurt in the same school as kids who get a five-o’clock shadow by lunch time. Realizing that he'll have to get creative if he hopes to survive until high school, Greg concocts a series of get-cool-quick schemes that all go hopelessly awry. Despite the fact that he's viewed as a dork by his peers, Greg never loses hope that someday, when all is said and done, he'll be able to look back on his middle school experiences and laugh. Steve Zahn and Rachael Harris co-star in this comedy from Hotel for Dogs director Thor Freudenthal.

Kick Ass - Adapted from Mark Millar's hyper-violent comic book of the same name, director Matthew Vaughn's (Layer Cake) vigilante superhero film tells the tale of an average New York teenager who decides to don a costume and fight crime. Comic book geek Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) may not have good coordination or special powers, but that doesn't mean he isn't a fully capable crime fighter. After purchasing a flashy wet suit on the Internet, Dave starts busting up baddies with nothing but brute force. He calls himself KickAss, and he can take a beating as good as he can dish one out. Before long, KickAss has become a local sensation, and others are following his lead. Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and HitGirl (Chloe Moretz) are a father-daughter crime-fighting duo who have set their sights on local mob heavy Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong). They're doing a decent job of dismantling Frank's sizable underworld empire when KickAss gets drawn into the fray. But Frank's men play rough, and his son, Chris (Christopher MintzPlasse), is about to become KickAss' very first arch nemesis. When Chris assumes the persona of Red Mist, the stage is set for a superhero showdown that could spell the end of KickAss once and for all.

After.Life - Young couple Paul (Justin Long) and Anna (Christina Ricci) are toying with the prospect of marriage when they have a chance encounter with Eliot (Liam Neeson), a mysterious undertaker who claims he can speak with the dead. When Anna becomes caught in the otherworldly realm between life and death, she risks being buried alive. Will Eliot help her, or is he being driven by darker motivations?

Escape from New York [2 Discs] [DVD/Blu-ray] (2010) - The year is 1997. Manhattan Island is now a heavily guarded maximum-security prison, where the scum of the earth have converged. When Air Force One crash-lands in Manhattan, the president (Donald Pleasence) is held hostage by its denizens. One-eyed mercenary Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is strong-armed into rescuing the chief executive. He is aided, not always willingly, by a tough gal (Adrienne Barbeau) and a manic cab driver (Ernest Borgnine). Escape from New York was followed by a sequel of sorts in 1996, Escape From L.A., again starring Kurt Russell.

Hell yeah!!!! Escape from New York!!!!!

Snake Plissken...

Did you know the studio wanted Tommy Lee Jones for the role of Snake Plissken. They didn't think Kurt Russell was right for the role because of his prior work. Yeah...put him on a whole different path...
Shoot a cop
With a gun
The Big Apple is plenty of fun
Stab a priest
With a fork
And you'll spend your vacation in New York
Rob a bank
Take a truck
You can get here by stealing a buck
This is bliss
It's a lark
Honey, everyone's coming to New York!
No more Yankees
Strike the word from your ears
Play the roulette
There's no more opera at the Met
This is hell
This is fate
But now this is your home and it's great
So rejoice
Pop a cork
Everyone's coming to New York

Lame shit....but great guy flick! On blu-ray? Bought.
Nick Nolte and Jeff Bridges were also approached to play Snake Plissken, but were uninterested. Kris Kristofferson was considered as a possible candidate for the lead also, but was not approached due to the failure of Heaven's Gate (suckage).

I can't even image anyone else playing this dude. He kicked some serious ass!
