TBD on Ning

Ok, I'll start this months thread.  The weather this month has started where August left off.  A toasty 100F today.  I am liking it!  It's my hope everyone who stops in during this month is enjoying life.

Didn't see September coming. Came too fast and not soon enough. Thank goodness it is cooler here. Has been a hellahish summer in more ways than one. Soon I will be in oregon, yeah. Hope everyone is having a saturday morning filled with love and laughter.

You certainly have had a hellish summer.  We are looking forward to meeting you during your Oregon visit Thalia!

Good Monday morning people!  It has rained last night and this morning.  I have to admit it's nice to see as long as it doesn't get carried away for another month or more.

Have a good week!!

Tuesday September 11th.  A somber morning for those of us in the U.S.  The news reports yet another repercussion in the form of cancer and blood disorders among the rescue workers.  The world is fragile in so many ways.

11th anniversary, and still as vivid as if it were yesterday.

somehow, this didn't show up earlier, even tho' i checked.  thanks for moving us forward, Richard!

September 11, 2003....My Mom had a heart attack that led to a month in ICU. I was at the hospital everyday, staying with my Dad on the nights they said she would not live through the night. Here we are 9 years later, 8 stents in her heart, a breast cancer survivor and 2 time skin cancer survivor. I don't think God wants her yet.

Lots of memories for September 11th....all of them heart wrenching.

Heart wrenching is putting it mildly RRC.  I am sorry you have memories.  Your mother has been very strong throughout her life challenges.

WOW!  a LOT of 9/11 memories, indeed!

by 2001, my dad had been gone over 2 years and ma had moved into a senior community, independent living, but she was well along w/ breast cancer metastases and cutting them out, one by one.  anxiety was a long-standing issue, and she was going berserk, finally had to "order" her to turn off the television and stop watching the 9/11 follow up, because she was making her (and me) crazy.

i was in Kansas City, MO, on 9/11, for a conference.  ended up taking AMTRAK home, a delightful ride, then picked up my car a few days later from what's now Reagan Nat'l Airport.i became a train fan immediately!

flew to Tuscon the next month, for a small meeting, the hotel was horrid, so a couple of friends with LOTS of Hilton Honors points decided to move just them to the local Hilton instead, and casually asked, can you take 80 people from this fleabag place across town, for 3 days?  so within about 3 hours, the entire meeting relocated.  The Hilton called in their laid-off staff, they managed to feed us well, and the Sleep Inn where we had been booked, well, we simply threatened them with calling the local health dept about the horrid conditions and they let us out of the contract w/ no penalty.

thursday.  looks like the middle east has found an excuse to riot, starting on the 9/11 anniversary.  ugh.  hoping that friday won't be as bad as feared....

i missed friday.  went to DC for a birthday dinner w/ my son, had a grand time!  got home about 1:30 am.  then today i find out i get to go back up there for landlord-tenant court, since i'm co-signer on my daughter's lease.  there's a dispute over compensation for that month (including the worst of the heat wave) when they didn't have air conditioning, and the landlord wants to play hardball.

i'm nmot happy that it means i miss a very important committee meeting, and somebody else will have to record what i should be getting paid for, but the subpoena was posted friday afternoon for court on monday, so there's no time to argue about it.....  ugh

Sunday and minutes before noon eastern time.

Lynn I am happy you had a good time with your son.  But really sorry about having to go back to DC for court.  I hope all goes well.

Our washer went kaput again so we went to Lowes yesterday.  The last time I had to go there to buy plumbing parts I looked at their appliance clearance stuff and saw 2 or 3 washers at nicely reduced prices.  We bought a Whirlpool that was returned after 1 use because the customer thought it was too loud.  The price was close to 40% off, a top loader, and the only one Sharon would not have to crawl into to reach everything inside.  LOL  They delivered it this morning before 8:00 and took away the old one.  It's on it's first wash job and not too loud for the basement.  :)

Have a nice day and a pleasant week ahead.

hi, Richard!  thx for your good wishes tomorrow.  i'm hoping we can just stonewall them, 'til daughter moves out in ~2 months or less, 'cuz the landlord will have no incentive to reimburses anything, once they're gone from the property.  and it's a legit dispute, given that the other tenant is disabled and was harmed by lack of a/c.

seems like you just got that old washer repaired a few weeks ago, but it must've been a few months, huh?  anyhow, sounds like you did some very smart shopping!  the image of Sharon having to use a stepstool, or get on her knees, to unload a washer isn't pretty.  yes, the front loaders are supposed to be more "efficient" but they're awkward.
