arrggghhhh!  i so understand your frustration with the bureaucracy, Richard!  they seem to make up rules as they go along, so that you're stuck in the endless cycle of "bring me a rock."  gov't contractors experience the same!

you "could" offer your client the option of calling the head honcho with a complaint about, literally, "unpublished policies."  any requirements that a project is req'd to meed are required EVERYWHERE to be published and publicly available, not simply imposed once you submit your application, but that's an option that sometimes backfires and the permit never gets issued.  still, it oughta' be up to your client to make that decision, all you can do is present them w/ the option along w/ documentation of how their requirements are not publicly available.

yeah, i'm a bureaucrat, but i have dealt w/ them all my life, it seems.  just depends on how you want to take them on....

the storm is gonna' be a really bfd to the folks further east, for sure.  it's huge, and low pressure abounds, but there's no organized "center" now, it's become the hybrid of hurricane and nor'easter that everyone feared.  impacts will be felt far inland, monday/tuesday here shifting towards wednesday further north, but with a 2nd whammy of snow coming along behind it, wednesday into thursday!  the good news is that all the leaves will have blown off the trees by then, but they'll still be vulnerable to the weight of snow on branches....  we'll see how it goes.

so far, so good, here in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley. we're under a blizzard warning, but current conditions (44º, barely enuf wind to rustle the leaves and drizzling rain) don't match the forecast at all.  i suspect that 30-50 miles north, or west, it's a different story, but i'm just feeling lucky for now.  6:30 pm EDT.

Indeed you are lucky so far.  I hope the storm blows by you and gone on it's way not to come back.

Hello my friends,

Have been sorta under the radar these days.  Have just been poopy since coming back from oregon...hard to get back into the groove after all of that excitement...

Have a friend who just got back from NYC this am at 12:30...a series of irritations she said, yet she is back safe and sound...

This storm is crazy, crazy....am wishing all of my friends in the east the very best...

Tomorrow work day again...the only good thing about it, time sure goes fast and then is the weekend again  :-)

Well, hope all of you have the very best week ever filled with love and laughter

Thalia, have been missing you, but some "down" time after that marvelous week was inevitable, i think....

Richard, thanks for your good wishes.  so far, so good.

Thalia we are just going have to step up our hopes and wishes you can return to Oregon for good soon.

Storm Sandy didn't live up to predictions here, but she made up for it in NYC, for sure.  scary business.

i'm still waiting to hear from one kid but am assuming that no news is good news.

Happy Halloween!! Trying to get back in the groove of life. Work, after work activities, homework and catching up at home have made for some crazy evenings.

I hope I get a few trick or treaters coming around this evening. I am wearing my witch hat from the play today to keep me in the mood.

Have a great evening.

We  are hunkered down in the back bedroom watching TV until the little thugs in our hood slither on through.

Do witches sit with their feet up drinking blood red wine on Halloween?  ::)  <------ 4 eyes

hey, RRC, glad you found time to stop in!  you must've been totally whipped after the play ended!

hope everyone had a great Hallowe'en!!!!!

We will assess the damage as soon as it's daylight.   Hahahahaha
