Just saw on The Ed Show on MSNBC (have no idea who "Ed" is) a clip of Rush LImbaugh saying that Obama is using the tragedy in Haiti for political gain, to enhance his image as a humanitarian, etc. Then he went on to say "this is the guy who took 3 days to respond to the Xmas day bomber". How convienent the right forgets that Bush took six days to responnd to the shoe bomber. Obama responds in less than 24 hours to Haiti. He went on to mention dark skinned and light skinned people. Not sure what Rush's point about that all was. But I digress.

Let's see: The Xmas day bomber incident, nobody was injuried or killed. In Haiti, possibly 100,000 human beings are already dead, estimates say several hundreds of thousands may have been been killed. In a disaster such as this, immediate response is crucial. Safe water, shelter, things of that nature are a matter of life or death. Yet Rush has the nerve to say Obama is doing this to promote his image as a humanitarian? I wonder what Rush's response was to the 2004 tsunami/earthquake and the response of Bush. Did Rush say Bush was using the deaths of over 200,000 human beings for political gain? I doubt it. I'm sick and f'ing tired of the double standards from the right.

Also, while I'm venting...WTF was Rudy G talking about when he said there was no domestic terrorism after 9/11? Can the right be so f'ing blind and stupid?

It go's both ways, but I don't really care what his motives are,or who said what,or when they said it! Right now the only that matters is getting help to those poor people as quickly as possible!

I tended to agree with you, until I read the comment. It is totally unreasonable, as the president's aproval with the group he mentioned is in the 80% range. But it really upsets me that it is nothing more than race baiting, and it is time we let these people know we expect better on the airwaves we own.

.
On his radio program Wednesday morning, Rusty said that President Barack Obama and company would use Haiti to get closer to the “light-skinned and dark-skinned black [communities] in this country” while adding that the U.S. has “already donated to Haiti. It’s called the U.S. income tax.”

Blog EntryComments (10)Pat Robertson Blames Haiti Earthquake on Pact with the Devil

There's nothing like unspeakable human tragedy to bring out the crazy. And few people better embody the crazy than religious comedian Pat Robertson. So it should not come as a surprise that he's incorporated the Haiti earthquake--which may have left a half-million dead--into his weird, classless act. Speaking on his television show today, historian Robertson spouted this gem:

Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French--uhh, you know, Napoleon III or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the Devil. They said, "We will serve you if you'll get us free from the French." True story. And so the Devil said, "OK, it's a deal." And they kicked the French out—you know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other—desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It's cut down the middle. On the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etcetera. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island. They need to have---and we need to pray for them—a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy I'm optimistic something good may come. But right now we're helping the suffering people and the suffering is unimaginable

Maybe he could just send his plane with supplies?
Of Course, and plus I would want it searched for contriban on it's return.
Rudy forgot to reference the script they wrote for him a long time ago. He left out "after 9/11". So says he....

Yes, he left out "after 9/11" but the point is there were most certainly domestic terror attacks in the US after 9/11. The D.C. Sniper, The anthrax attacks, shooting aimed at Jews in L.A., a shooting at a Jewish center in Seattle.... I mean seriously, do these people actually believe what they say? They have to know they are lying through their teeth.

As for Pat Robertson, I'm willing to spend 5 bucks on a roll of duct tape for his mouth.
jacquin, I had to see what I could find,
) "God considers this land to be his. You read the Bible and he says 'This is my land,' and for any prime minister of Israel who decides he is going to carve it up and give it away, God says, 'No, this is mine.' ... He was dividing God's land. And I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the E.U., the United Nations, or the United States of America.' God says, 'This land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.'" --Pat Robertson, on why Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive stroke

Ed is Ed Schulz. He's probably even more liberal than Keith, Rachel and Chris combined. I love him.

Rush is a big fat blow hard. I wish he'd just go away and will never be heard from again. He'll do and say anything he can to make Obama seem like the bad guy.

Rudy is just an asshole. He too should keep his mouth shut too.
Reminds me of a political cartoon I saw when "The Reverend" Jerry Falwell died. He's standing at the Pearly Gates facing St. Peter, hat in hand. St. Peter looks at him and says, "Yes, enter. We're more forgiving here than you were there."
Believe me, Rush knows what is talking about, he is saying what his listners think all along. He knows his herds well, he can sense their pulses, he says, what they think and talk in their kitchen tables. He really knows his worshipers. So it is not just off the cuff remarks. It is a deliberate message.
Thanks. I don't watch any cable news in general, so had no idea who he was. The only time I watch the news on TV is for coverage such as Haiti.
Nothing that high-earning selfish fool says surprises me any more. He makes multiple millions a year spewing nuttiness every day. He could be sending many bucks to help out and it wouldn't even pinch him, and yet... he'd rather smut up our duely elected POTUS, for reasons of his own, and I don't even need to reach too far to guess those reasons. What a high-paid moron! And how lacking in "Christian" charity.
Cynthia - yes, let us act like human beings, and wish the pained and injured well. Thank you.
