Nancy Drew was a teenaged girl detective who nsolved mysteries in a series of books by Carolyn Keene. I loved them at a 10 or 11 year-old.

We had one of these in our living room. Sat, legs folded, in the parlor to hear our favorite shows. Like Gunsmoke, Jack Benny, Our Miss Brooks, The Shadow

That was going to be one of my memories. My grandparents had a radio like this:

And also a coal stove.

And now I'm sitting here remembering the most delicious

tastes and flavors of the toasted sandwiches that used

to be cooked in the Jaffel Iron that used to be placed

directly into the red coal embers of the old stoves.

Yum !

I can remember Tarzan and Hop Harrigan on the old radios,

but don't recall The Shadow, although I used to enjoy it as a serial

that was run before the main movie at our local Theatre.

Oh dear the sweet memories....

My Mum had this same sewing machine

and when the top lid was opened up

for the machine to stand in place,

there were pretty pink and white flowers

running along the top from the needle side

to the wheel, where material binding was

wound around so that the unwanted pins

could be placed in.

I also remember that every once in a while,

Because I was smaller, Mum used to give me

a cloth with some polish on it, to get down and

polish the treadle part at the bottom.

Years later, Mum taught me how to sew on this one.

Great to be reminded again Kooner.

Oh,yes. My mom had one in the basement. It got pretty damp down there on wash day,
