What's the most exciting thing you can truthfully say you have touched with your bare hands? (besides body parts, that is......I mean things like a dogs ears or velvet material, or a prism).

silly putty

my first instinct was to say a corpse, but I guess that's a body part.  Not exactly exciting either but certainly revelatory.  Let me think some more.

A silk tapestry.  It's a smooth I can't describe.

A very young kitten

I got to pet a Siberian tiger in Orlando.....and cuddle a baby tiger and a baby wolf. The baby tigers were wirey feeling.....the baby wolves were sooooo soft.  And I stroked a dolphin on his nose.

I have gotten in touch with my feelings.

A small shark and star fish, during a whale watching we anchored near the channel islands the divers took a video cam with them and brought up in a tank the little shark and various other sea creatures, I was brave enough to pet the shark and hold the star fish.

Okay, probably a new record album.  We used to get hysterically excited when certain of those came out.

A hummingbird....it got stuck in my garage. I was able to cup it against the window it had been trying to exit. My son ran for the camera, snapped a picture as I held it up to fly away. It was such an amazing, delicate thing to hold! She sat almost still with her wings flickering a little and did NOT fly away until I set her down next to my hummingbird feeder (which she SAW from the garage windows.) and ANOTHER hummingbird DIVE BOMBED her. I sent the story into a magazine called BIRDS AND BLOOMS but I checked the issues for about 2 years and they never published it. So meanwhile, a couple more years pass,  I get divorced, moved away from THAT house and my former Mother in law said she saw my picture and story in the magazine and it was sometime after THAT, the magazine and a few gifts came to my old house and my ex husband somehow got them to me.

I slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of god.
