I agree with the others who mentioned community, get-together type places, I would love that, but I think those days are mostly gone forever. Several people here in town the last few yrs have tried to get groups like that going & there was zero interest.  In fact 1 told me that when she informed a woman she knew about this new, get-together group she was starting, I think a jewelry-making club or something like that, anyway an activity that the woman was always talking about how she wished she still had a chance to do that activity & could meet others who did it too, showed no interest when told about it.  When the organizer asked her "Why not?  I thought you'd jump at the chance for this", the woman replied, "You know what?  It's so much easier to just stay home & do all my socializing on the computer; that way, I don't even have to get dressed or leave the house."  Sign of the times, I guess.
