This is the power of social conditioning. Some things are considered appropriate and some inappropriate. I suspect men would feel the same way. What is the difference for a man in showing up at his local health club pool in his underwear (let's say boxer shorts) as opposed to his skimpy bathing suit? Would you feel comfortable there in your underwear?

Guys don't ordinarily run around in briefs either, and guys that wear bathing suits that emphasize their "package" are considered perverts by most of us :)
