When I was staying at my son's house in NC, my bff flew down to visit. I took her up the coast to Harker's Island, where we got on a ferry and went out to Cape Lookout. We took a tour around the island with a local in his pick-up truck, hearing all the stories about the area. He dropped us off on a gorgeous stretch of beach so we could hunt shells. It was unbelievably beautiful! After we got back to the ferry dock, we sat and visited with our guide for at least another hour. Then a leisurely ride along the coast and a great dinner at a seafood restaurant in Beaufort. It couldn't have been a nicer day.
