because you are trying to think about all the complicated things at once and your mind was not created to do that.
also, once you're a "grown-up" you get stuck with all the complicated crap.
since you haven't done the Zen thing where they "still your mind" "silence your dreams", (me neither but it sounds right), try "Life is hard by the yard but it's a cinch by the inch."
it will get easier eventually.
did I mention "their" red tape? Been there, done that.
