This isn't a haiku, but a quote that I would love to witter into one: "The most you can hope for is an apology for all the things you aren't going to get." Can we make this a team effort?

Here are my tries:

castles in the air
gossamer apologies
presage transgressions

And, straightforward:

most we can hope for
are heartfelt apologies
for what we won't get

More haiku-like:

grey clouds weep raindrops
apologizing to earth
for blue skies blemished
