TBD on Ning

With only 5 days left until Thanksgiving do you have your plans ready?  What are some of you doing for this wonderful holiday?  We're having a big mob here.  Two of my sons will be here for dinner.  Third one and his family will come by for dessert and my son's girlfriend's Mom and Sister and her boyfriend will be here.  My fourth son is entertaining at his house.  I'm so looking forward to all the people and all the food.

Already did my first turkey last Thursday for the seniors' luncheon at my church.  It was a 24-pound turkey.  Too big for my roaster, so I split it in half and cooked one half in my oven and the other half next door....blessed to have good neighbors!  This week's celebration will be much smaller, just my 2 sons and me, but I'll still make all our favorite dishes.  There will be lots of leftovers at my house.  Yummy!!

diner if it's open,if not then it's a tv dinner.

We will have 7 here for dinner, my DIL is cooking.

I am, as I write this, traveling north on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, heading for Illinois. We are making outstanding time; we've only been on the road about 3-1/2 hours. We'll be in Pittsburgh before we know it. I will land at my oldest daughter's tonite, and Monday or Tuesday head on over to Granddaughter #3's new home, where I will camp out til Thanksgiving so that I can help her get ready, as she is hosting her very first family holiday dinner. We will have my two girls.....their 3 girls....and 3 of my great grandkids.....two sils, and 2 grandsons-in-law. They are smoking their turkey, and we are making a big ham, too. I guess my contribution will be a pumpkin pie and a cheesecake. I gained 5 lbs. just thinking about it! I will keep in touch. Here's wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. This year.....when I count my many blessings....I will give thanks for the lovely people I have met here on Boomerville. I wish we could all get together and celebrate over a nice dinner and a good bottle of wine. :-)

Karin, hope you have a great holiday.  Sounds like it will be fun with all the family.

The Thanksgiving Day I will spend at home watching football mostly. My son is coming down from Northern California and the whole  gang is doing Thanksgiving at my exes house. That's fine with me as the peace and quiet soothes the soul. We will do a fried turkey on the following Saturday. My SIL does the frying and he is good at it. It is the juiciest bird you ever ate. A twenty pound turkey takes about an hour.

Is a fried turkey greasy, like fried chicken is?  Sounds good, but curious.  Enjoy your football games Johnnie.  My Ravens are playing Thanksgiving night.
