One of my happiest days, was Christmas Eve 2003. My DIL really needed a new car, I worked at a Chrysler dealership and they were having a big end of year employee sale.My son, her mom, her dad, step mom, step sister, 1/2 brother and an aunt and uncle all chipped in bought her a 2004 PT Cruiser. With my employee discount and "The Boss Likes Me Best" discount we got a very reasonable price. My sons friend wanted to be a part of it, so he filled up the gas tank. My sons other friend wore a SAnta suit and went to where she works and ask to see her and then brought her out to the parking lot, where we had the car all decorated and handed her the keys out of his santa bag. It was a wonderful day for all.
That's an amazing story. I love those stories just before Christmas. Nice job!! I'll bet she was shocked but thrilled.
How wonderful that everyone pulled together to get your DIL a car. Now that is the true spirt if Christmas!
That is such a heartwarming story. It kind of reminds me of my Mom she felt a lot like that. She left us at 91. She never complained .One of her favorite sayings was If he leads us to it ,He will bring us through it.She never gave up.We still miss her very much.
Yes, she was thrilled and surprised and all the people that knew, no one let it slip and we had the car at the dealership since Nov. My son and I would go and get it on the week-end when she was working and drive it around.
If I sit back and and actually think about this, the first day I met my son who I adopted at the age of six months has to rate right up there. His smile, his infectious laugh, what a joy! I actually do relive days at the cabin I had to tear down. It was a special place, very rustic, secluded and quiet. Something about being in a place with no running water, I guess you just had to be there. I relive it often in my dreams (probably because I think about it before I fall asleep).
I rarely think about past experiences from the standpoint of wanting to relive them (that old cabin is an exception). Those who have left this world is another topic though. It's funny how many times events, places or activities trigger my memory of loved ones. When Christmas comes I always remember my Uncle Fink. He was just about the nicest guy ever and he loved Christmas and loved entertaining at Christmas. On the golf course I remember my pal Clete who passed about five years ago. Sometimes I feel like he is right there beside me. I'll pick up a pan I got as a wedding gift and think of my dear Aunt Sally who gave it to me. I've really been blessed in my life.
