Anyone besides me to do gym thing?

I was not careful and gained some weight back.  Grump. I've been really hitting the gym hard as of late and working in an accelerated toning and burning manner.  Today I did 40 minutes on the elliptical and felt great.  But now it is a few hours later and I'm looking for the advil.  LOL

If I hit it hard enough, long enough I'll be back in the swing of things and not feeling like the Christmas Cripple (laughing).

If anyone else here has an interest in exercise I"m game to talk.

I prefer Arc trainer and elliptical to treadmill or bike.  I do free weights and machines.  I'm out of shape and need to get back to doing a few hundred sit ups a day.

Hi MariaSF,

I probably should do my cardio after the weights, but I use the cardio to warm up and I know once I stop it I won't go back, so I try to do 45 minutes or so of heavy-duty cardio and then do the weights.  I was told I would not have the strength or energy left over to do a good job of weight-lifting, but I always do.  Maybe if I did more cardio I wouldn't, but so far so good.

I derailed on my dietary regimen for awhile so my BG went up and I'm a really unhappy camper.  So I'm now eating to the test results - which means no simple sugars of any kind.  I generally avoid all simple sugars.

When I was younger I was very fit - then I married a guy who made a snail look like Speedy Gonzales.  Now I'm back on track. I feel so much better when I exercise.  During the week I like to go early in the morning.

My legs are still stiff after our long run this morning.  I haven't run this far in almost 2 years; but at least now I'm sure I'll be able to finish the Houston Half-Marathon in January since my hamstrings did not give me any problems today.

I usually run 3 days a week and do strength-training and core-work 3 days a week - also a lot of the stretches I've learned in physical therapy after all of my injuries and surgeries!

Here are a few photos from this morning's "Cookie Run."

Good on you!  Today I did just a couple of miles on the treadmill and a mile more on the Arc trainer.  No outside running.  Tonight it is snowing so it would be a slippery mess anyway. I admire your fitness and running.  I suspect I will never be the runner you are - I'm more of a gym rat.  LOL

Got myself weight lifting gloves today and also a balance ball that is weighted.  Came home, set up the balance ball and started doing sit ups.  I bet tomorrow I will have trouble getting out of bed.  That's okay - I'll roll over onto the balance all and do some more to limber up.  LOL

I remember when I first started walking last spring and I did maybe half a mile and I couldn't hardly move the next day.  I pushed and quickly got up to 3-4 miles a day.  With the weather, and me not being motivated in the cold, I'm not doing as well.  I've done a grand total of 11.4 miles in December and only 19.8 in November.  I miss doing it, so I know I'll be right back at it, come April and any time I can in between.  Exercise is good.  Even if my kids laugh at me.  They were so confused when I started walking so much.  I keep them sharp with my antics.  :)

I'm so lucky that we have workout facilities where I work and with my schedule I find that working out during my lunch break works best.  I do anything from lifting weights, stationary bike, yoga classes and rowing machine.  I like to mix it up to keep the interest going.

Also, most days I walk to work, and it is truly "up hill both ways!" ;-)
