TBD

TBD on Ning

Got the strangest mail on Friday.  I finally called and it's from Citi bank.  Seems a company I worked for 7 years ago may have some pension money.  Pete remembers all about it but my lousy memory don't remember much.  I borrowed from it and paid some it.  He said we couldn't take out the part they were contributing.  I remember that they were matching it 50 cents for every dollar and we couldn't touch it.  He said we had to pa tax on it.  Wouldn't that be nice.  A few extra bucks a month would be nice. I was only eligble at 70 years and six months.  I sure could use it.

How about that, nice surprise. Good on ya!

Helen, I hope that it works out for you.  Just make sure that you verify it by a phone call. There's so many scams out there and most of them involve money and social security numbers. Maybe it's nothing to worry about but I question everything.

I'm with Steve...verify and double verify. Hope it's on the up and up. Was it real mail or an Email?...emails are suspicious, esp if an email supplies the phone number to call.

I'm with Steve and MTwoman- be careful and check it out.- Don't call the number on the letter- look up the number to call- often they just trying to get you backing information. Just yesterday my DIL  brother got a call from a car dealership saying their car loan was approved- but they needed more information- SS#- and banking info for auto pay. They had never applied for a car loan.

Ditto to everything that was said here. My first question was how Citibank got involved? Is that the bank your company was dealing with? It sure would be nice if this is legit but there are so many scams out here now and it seems they come up with new ones all the time. Seniors are their favorite targets.  Keep us posted.

They seemed on the up and up.  They knew the name of the company I worked for and the address.  Pete remembers me having stock with them that they used to match my 401k contributions.  Citi bank sounds like who they used.  I had long forgotten about it since I took a big chunk out to buy a house, but he said I was paying it back.  I honestly don't remember most of all that.  That was when my memory started to go.  He has a super memory but even he didn't think anything of it.  I would have only been due any money at 70.6months.  I'm 72 and 5 months.  We'll see what happens.  They are mailing us paperwork with what's going on.  My guess is there's not enough to go to McDonalds ever month.  The guy was an american and sounded intelligent.  He said it would be 3 to 5 weeks before we got the paperwork.  If I get something that's fine, but if I don't I feel like I inquired.  We'll see.
