Apposite, do you ever read for pure enjoyment/ relaxation instead of for knowledge?

I'm still slogging through Burligame's second volume of Lincoln. I read slowly but history I believe requires a slow paced reflective approach. I study as I read. After this 1800 page effort I will be reading the latest 1000 page Lincoln tome by David Reynolds. It got great reviews by contemporary historians of the era. Then there ill be William Freehling's two volume work "The Road to Disunion".

28 SUMMERS BY ELIN HILDERBRAND

THE NATURE OF FRAGILE THINGS BY SUSAN MEISSNER

FOR THE STORY LINES GO TO GOGGLE OR AMAZON. Two are historical fiction.  If you believe in soul-mates you’ll enjoy 28 SUMMERS

Beezerette, I’m a long time night reader.  During the day I’ve found some good movies on both the BBC and BYU channels.  Can only stomach so much of the current news!

I have just finished reading all the Tony and Anne Hillerman books and have started to read Tana Finch books, as recommended to me by some Louise Penny fans.  I reread all of Louise Penny's books and listened to the audios this lockdown time, before I allowed myself to read the new one.  That really helped me get through this pandemic time!  I am sure avoiding TV and news lately, so books are my friends!

I am reading Early Riser by Jasper Fforde and just completed The Constant Rabbit by the same author. He has a unique perspective on things.
