TBD

TBD on Ning

I have not received any posts from Bookaholics in several days.  What's up?  Has this site bitten the dust too?

I ended up in the hospital for week after having park of my smaller intestine removed because of blockage. Doing fine now Thanks to the person who suggested the books of Ian Rankin. Read one and loved it

Sure hope you are well on the mend now Countryphyl.  Lots of people sick around this area too.  We have had a dreadful real winter this year and I for one, cannot seem to get off my duff and get moving.  I know spring is coming and lots to do.  Have been reading and just not posting.  I am currently reading Tell Me Where It Hurts by Dr. Nick Trout.  It is his story of his work as an animal surgeon.  It is a good read with humor in it.  My granddaughter recommended it and I do like it.  Next up is The Bloomsday Dead  by Adrian McKinty.  Someone from here recommended him and I do like his books.  Just never enough time to read all that I want - life just seems to keep getting in the way.  Anyway HAPPY SPRING everyone - they tell me it is coming next week - we still have snow - so I really do not believe.  LOL

In a similar vein might I suggest "My Family, and other animals" by Gerald Durrell an hilarious, and true, account of Gerald Durrell and family on Corfu.

Thanks Thomas - I have put it on my list.

I've been doing some posting on the new Boomeons.com site, where I see a lots of the current groups have moved.  But I don't see a book group there yet.  I am packing for a week at sea on a Celebrity cruise ship.  I packed "Outrage" by Robert K. Tanenbaum, "The Collectors" by David Baldacci, "Hide" by Lisa Garner and the #2 of a Game of Thrones, "Clash of Kings," by George R. R. Martin.  I leave my Kindle at home on cruises, as I fear loosing it or dropping it in the pool. I also take authors I have read and liked, so I don't get some dog to read after settling in on a comfy deck chair and ordering a drink.  Hey, there is only so much time in the sun.

Funny, I wondered the same thing yesterday when I posted on the March Reads site.  Glad to see there are still a few of us keeping an eye out.

As I posted yesterday I am reading You're Next by Gregg Hurwitz.  Boy this one is a real page turner. Having trouble tearing myself away to do anything else!

Hospital... not fun! Hope you feel better soon, Phyl...

and Mandy, have a great trip. If you want a light book to take along try The All Girl's Filling Station's Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg. It would work well poolside... lol

Happy Spring to you too 'gram'... your Flower should be springing up soon.  :)

Well, well, well.........thanks Mandy for letting us know about Boomeons!  I see lots of familiar names there! Looks like there's a need for a book group.  Anyone interested in taking it on? Please let us know if a group is established there.  Here are the faqs about Boomeonshttp://www.boomeon.com/faqs

Countryphyl, am so glad to hear that you are on the mend!  Rest and heal!

Happy cruising, Mandy!  Wishing you sunshine and some interesting celebrities.

Rapa, I have checked out Boomeons, but don't find it very user friendly. Many old EONS names are shown as members on various groups but there's little activity. Few postings, at least on the sites I have looked at. TBD here is much more user friendly, I think.

Good to know, loruach!  Eons spoiled us as it was so very user friendly!!!

I've observed that lots of members check our BOOKOHOLIC site but seldom post.  Even brief notes would be welcome as we all seem to be concerned about our members well being as well as their reads!

I am here, I think I am more a voyeur than a poster.  I come here to steal ideas about books I want to read, but am too lazy to really post an in depth discussion of the books.  There are so many yummy books out there and not enough time to read them all.

I second the motion that I appreciate anyone who posts on what they are reading.  Anyone can read the NYT Best Seller list, but it's finding some less popular books that have special interest.  Some of the best books I have ever read never made the top ten lists.

Feel better Phyl, I hope your recovery goes smoothly.

Also adding to the appreciation of those who are posting reviews of what they are reading (even if they did not enjoy it)

Have been swamped lately, so my contribution is minimal for the next couple of months
