I'll start with the one that came to my mind immediately.

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

You tell us what book that is from and give another first line for the next person to identify.

Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities

I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day in January of 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974.

Melville's Moby Dick

I can't decide which of you I want to take  me to the barbecue.

Lynn, we are having too much fun with this!

Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451

I don't recognize Sono's quote, but try this one:

He was an old man who fished alone in a skiff in the Gulf Stream and he had gone eighty-four days now without taking a fish.

The Old Man and the Sea

Sono's quote was from Gone With the Wind......kinda an obscure one......

Of course, it's from GWTW.  Scarlett was toying with the Tarleton brothers.  Not so obscure when you put your brain in gear.

There are 2 quotes on the table waiting for an answer; any takers??

Gone With the Wind:

"Scarlet O'hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were."
‘It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."
Hint: A classic that has been recently made into a movie.

The Great Gatsby?

Pride & Prejudice  by Jane Austen

I'll try this one again :)

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again."
