Wednesday's Game: Books with a City/Town/Village in their name

This will be a bit harder than the last one :)

I'll start with A Cold Day in Paradise... set in Paradise, MI (in the upper peninsula), it is the first book in the Alex McKnight series by Steve Hamilton.

Can you think of one?

"The Paris Wife" by Paula McClain.  Ernest Hemingway's first wife shares her version of the days the young writer found his craft living in Paris with artists in the days after WWI.

Taking a bit of liberty with this one:  THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY (2008) by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.  Guernsey is a channel island but the residents refer to themselves as from Guernsey.  This was one of my very favorite reads!

The Devil in the Whiter City by Erik Larsen(?)

Chicago was a great host to the World Exposition, which was called "The White City" because of the architecture.  I enjoyed the read very much.

The Wizard of Oz.

One of my favorites is "A Town Like Alice" by Nevil Shute.  Of course, the reference is to Alice Springs, Australia.  It was also made into a movie.

Here's an oldie: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith in 1943 and made into a movie 2 years later.

What a beautiful spot for a wedding Lynn...  DH's uncle had a resort in Paradise about 35 years ago...

Have you read this series?

I think you'll love the series...

SHANGHAI GIRLS by Lisa See.  Story takes place 1937-1957 when the Chin sisters were sold by their father to California brothers.

The Three Christs of Ypsilanti a non-fiction book that reads like a novel

The author brings together three paranoid schizophrenic patients from the State Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan who had one thing in common, each believed himself to be Jesus Christ. An investigation into the nature of human identity, belief, and delusion that is poignant, amusing, and at times disturbing.

Wow that place is now in horrible shape, too bad it seems to have been a majestic place in the past
