TBD on Ning

I have been reading some e-books on my kindle Fire.

I like it more than the original kindle because the screen is backlit which makes it easier to read in the dark or low light.

I have been reading non-fiction and it is a pleasure to click on the footnotes and be taken there to read the footnote. But more interesting is that you can click on the URL links inside the book and be taken to the web site of that URL.

Reading a book has become integrated with browsing the web.

That is a new and exciting experience for me.

I am still on Kindle II but have problems with any book that has graphs and pictorial content as it is hard to read.  I also don't like not being able to flip through a text it is almost impossible to do.

To be honest, although I live and work in Silicon Valley and am surrounded by technology and enjoy it, I was very reluctant to go to kindle because I like the feel and smell of books in paper. When I got the kindle II I liked it but was not overwhelmed by it. But once I started to use the kindle app either on a PC or on the iPad or even on the cell phone I started to like it more and finally decide to ugrade to a Kindle Fire.

Using the Kindle Fire is just a delight, I like that I buy a book and start reading within seconds. I LOVE the fact that ebooks on the kindle would take you to the web site of any URL that is mentioned in the body of the book. Graphs and pictures come out flawless on the Kindle Fire. I even listen to Pandora on the device while reading the books

So is the Kindle Fire a table as well as a book reader?

The kindle fire is a tablet, I read books on it, play games, listen to music, watch videos, and even make international phone calls (using Skype)
It is quite lighter than an iPad and the screen is backlit and beautiful
I prefer the my little Sony e- reader, than the IPad for reading, don!t like the back lighting.

I have a NOOk color, 2 years ago for Christmas each of my sons got me one. I love it.I was house bound for 4 months last year and it was so nice, I could send my son to the store for a gift card and just buy  all the books I wanted. Instead of having him have to go to the book store and try and find what I wanted. I belong to two book clubs, one at the library and one at the senior center in the next town over. They each read a different kind of book.

Isn't technology wonderful!

I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas and it is nice. I like E reading.

Surprise, my one son and his wife got me the new NOOK HD+ for Christmas.Really like it, Was up till 2:30am playing with it.As soon as I registered it   all my books from the NOOk color showed up.

Have you checked with your local library to see if they offer eBooks for your Kindle? I have a Nook & really enjoy getting ebooks from the library. For the Nook, the initial setup can sometimes be a tad irritating but once your're set it couldn't be easier to check out books.

I bought a Nook Glow in October and just love it. In fact, I'm reading more now, because it allows me to read in light or dark places. And it has opened my world to new authors. I couldn't be more pleased.

Since one of my book clubs is at the library, I just took my NOOk there and they set it up. Haven't tried that part out yet, but its ready to go.
