I read most of his stuff over the years and have watched him in the media on many appearances.  They say he knew stuff about US defense systems that nobody was supposed to know.  Who will ever forget the exploits of Jack Ryan, his superhero?  It is a shame he and other authors of note seem to pass way to early in life.

I`ve read a whole lot of his books - they gave me so much pleasure, so much thrills as I turned the pages of his books I experienced so many unexpected twists and turns to the story that like Reagan (and this is the only thing I agree with President Reagan about) I just had to keep turning those pages.  I shall miss that, but my sympathies go out to his friends and family who will miss so much more.  Tom Clancy was simply the best.

Many times have I paused in front of Tom Clancy’s books in the library, but I never took one of them home.  I flipped through the pages then put the book back on the shelf.  I don’t know why that is, because I read many “spy” novels. Probably my all time favorite is The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth.  Perhaps now I’ll try a little harder to read a Clancy novel.

Like you, Lorouch, I've not read Tom Clancy.  Perhaps because his spy stories were quite long.  Nor did I read Vince Flynn but have friends who devoured both authors.  Both authors died within a month and were too young to exit this life.

Clancy was a native Baltimorean.  Here is his hometown obituary:

I loved Hunt... such a good book and movie.
