Anyone else read this wonderfully written book by Louise Erdrich?  This may be dubbed in later years as the American Indian TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.  I'm finishing it tonight.  Highly recommend it to both genders.

I've read The Porcupine Year and that series with children.  Is The Round House the one where the mother is getting her son out of trouble with the law?  What's that one?  I'll probably end up reading it.  Sounds good.

The author is the same but this is not in her children's series.   The main character is Joe, age 13, who wants to avenge a brutal attack on his mother.  I've learned a lot about the Indian Nation via this story.

Yes, just read it recently and I also recommend it highly.

I want to read this book. It looks very good. I am waiting for it at our Libary.

Finished this exceptional book last night.  In reading the Afterword, I learned that the author, Louise Erdrich, was diagnosed and underwent treatment for breast cancer while writing this book. Louise is the owner of Birchbark Books, an independent bookstore in Minnesota.http://birchbarkbooks.com/

BTW, The Round House has been named winner of the 2012 National Book Award!

Kudos to Louise Erdrich!

I've only read The Master Butcher's Singing Club by her... which was excellent

I have The Round house on request at the library but I am getting 2 of her other earlier books to read while I wait... The Painted Drum & The Plague of Doves.

Have any of you read either of these?

I'm picking up Erdrich's SHADOW TAG today!   Will look into the ones you mentioned, Carci.  Thanks!

Gonna check at the TN web lib...If not there I'll think about buying.

It was in a listing of best books for 2012, so I will pencil it in for a read this year.  Thanks for the recommendation.
