The Girls of Atomic City

I just finished this non-fiction book that I found out about here - where else! This book by Denise Kiernan deals with the lives of everyday young women who came to Oak Ridge TN to help with the development of the Atomic bomb. Since Oak Ridge is just up the road, it is a subject of interest to me.

The author centers the tale around about half a dozen women, gives their histories, private lives, job duties, and the overall atomosphere of living & working in a super secret environment. I knew a little about all of this -  really interesting & the author presents nuclear science in a way to even make THAT understandable.

Makes me want to tour Oak Ridge!
