I just finished this latest by Fannie Flagg & really, really enjoyed it. I think I've read all of her books & liked some better than others. To me, this one is up there with "Fried Green Tomatoes". As so many of her books do, it deals with a couple of time periods. In this one, modern day Sookie, daughter of the formidable Lenore, has her world turned upside down when she finds out she's not who she always thought she was.

Jump to a Polish family in Pulaski Wisc. in WWII. Four daughters & one son help with the family Phillips 66 service station till WWII gas rationing closes them down. The girls join the WASP's to train male pilots & ferry planes. While I knew of the WASP's, it sent me googling for more info.

Like most of Flagg's books, I laughed outloud & shed a few tears. Loved the characters - even the not so loveable ones - and wanted the book to never end. For me, that makes for a good read.

Although I don't go out of my way to purchase her books, I just finished "I Still Dream About You" and have "Welcome to the World, Baby Girl" in my "to read" pile.  I remember her from her TV days.  She has gotten older and so have I.

Oh, I'm sure you're mistaken Mandy, none of us has aged a day!

Sounds like my kind of book. I just requested it from my library.

Did I mention that I love this group!  Thanx tnbopeep :)

Let us know what you think of it!
