I just finished 2 books by Ms. Gilmore & enjoyed both immensely. Slopok - probably not your kind of read but they are by a local author. She's from Nashville. The first book is Looking for Salvation at the Dairy Queen. It takes place in the small (real) town of Ringgold, GA. All the preacher's daughter, Catherine Grace Cline, wants to do is grow up and get out of Ringgold. Since Ringgold is just down the road it made this coming of age story even more enjoyable. She finds that things - and people - are not what they always seem.

The second book is The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove. This one is set in Nashville & tells the tale of Bezellia Grove - upper crust society. Daughter of terribly dysfunctional parents who just wants to be herself - not what her society mother thinks she should. She's torn between the life she knows & was raised in and what she knows is right in her heart.

Both books are stand alone novels but have that same Southern theme running thru them. They're not War & Peace and don't have the cure for cancer in them but were, for me, good reads. Kind of reminiscent of Fannie Flagg.

Thumbs up on both from me!
