TBD on Ning

As we head toward fall are you anticipating some good reads?  I'm next on the reserve list for Louise Penny's new book.  YAY!

Am currently trying to get through C. J. Box's stand alone THE HIGHWAY. I'm not enjoying the read as much as his Joe Pickett series.

Ihave The new Penny book at the library waiting for me can't wait.

Know the feeling, Countryphyl!!!  Libraries won't be open until Tues. due to holiday so our anticipation just builds!!!  Am looking forward to returning to Three Pines!

Just carrying over from August. I have a couple of books on hold but I would have to look because I can't remember what I put on hold.....Saw this the other day;"One advantage of growing older...you can hide your own Easter eggs".

I just got an iPad that lets you talk to post so you will have to bear with me while I learn how to do it.
RAPA...I started The Highway...got through 3 discs...think I'm going to bail on it. Maybe because all the drama and horror in Cleveland with those 3 young women trapped in a house and mistreated for 10 years has made me just not want to suffer through more pain like that...even if it is fiction.

I'm about 150 pages into White Oleander...going to start skimming as it is depressing, too...and I have another cherry tale on order. "Orange is the New Black"****women in prison.

I know what you mean about Box's stuff, rapa; I don't even like the Pickett series; the only book of his I've ever liked was Blue Heaven (another 1 of his standalones) and I was happy to hear they were going to make a movie of it but I guess the project fell thru, haven't heard any more about it.  Very good book tho.

Right now I'm reading Edward Adrift by Craig Lancaster, the 2nd in a series about a guy with Asperger's, very good.

Actually I'm a big fan of C. J. Box, especially his Joe Pickett series.  It's THE HIGHWAY that I don't care for and am finding flaws and inconsistencies in his story development. Have a feeling he was trying for too much sensationalism.

Finished Louise's book yesterday -- great as always.  She has an email that she sends out and has asked that we not give away the book.  All I can say is that I'm learning to love Ruth!   Hmmmm.

I cannot read the new one yet still have to finish a couple more of hers -  do like the books and I have loved Ruth almost from the start.  Reminds me of a friend I have -  she would never have had the duck - but the manners are pretty much the same- also her language is most of the time. LOL  I am still reading Harry Bosch- Nine Dragons at present and also reading Broken Harbor by Tana French- my first read of hers and will read her others. So sorry to hear the disappointing news of The Highway - I loved his other books.

Going home tomorrow after 3 straight weekends of company up north... so I unfroze my hold list at the library and hope to get Louise Penny, William Kent Krueger, Steve Hamilton and the latest Reacher real soon.

About 1/2 way through Children of the Fog on my Kindle... the jury is still out on this one.

Jeez, if my order with Louise Penny & Kathy Reichs doesn't hurry up & get here I'm going to start stalking the mailman! I'm just filling reading time with re-reads of "In Death" books.

(good one Slopok!)

Earlier today I finished The Professionals by Owen Laukkanen. I very much enjoyed it, certainly enough to look for his second book, Criminal Enterprise, at my library.
