Reading Challenge
My local library, Boone County KY, is running a reading challenge for 2014. The challenge is to read a book in 12 different categories for the year and submit the list. The prize is a tablet (brand name not specified). http://www.bcpl.org/
Here are the categories:
January: A Best Book of of 2013
February: Romance or Sports
March: Science Fiction/Fantasy
April: Graphic Novel
May: Mystery/True Crime
June: History/Historical Fiction
July: Beach Read (quick, easy read)
August: Classic/Modern Classic
September: Biographical/Autobiographical
October: Horror/Thriller/Paranormal
November: Foodie/Food Fiction
December: Inspirational/Holiday/Feel Good
They have provided book marks to keep track of the list, which can be submitted by Dec. 31 of next year.
My plan is to preselect the 12 books and schedule them into my reading routine for 2014.

I was going to say, "That doesn't sound like very much fun," and then I read readstoomuch's post. To me, it sounds like work - but if you're paid a tablet, then okay.

I had penciled in most of the books required in this exercise, except for a graphic novel. To tell the truth, I wasn't quite sure what a graphic novel was until I found the definition. It is in fact, a comic book novel. They are few and far between. But my good old Amazon service picked up my search and sent me a list of twenty or so of the classic graphic novels at a $5.99 special price. The genius of Amazon web site it that it reads your interests and markets for you. I selected a graphic novel by a novelist I have read, Brad Metzler. It is called "Identity Crisis." http://www.amazon.com/Identity-Crisis-Brad-Meltzer-ebook/dp/B0064W6... One warning to anyone who might want to purchase a Kindle version of a graphic novel. You probably can't read it on your Kindle and will have to use your computer screen for maximum readability.
