Personally, I've never been a follower of Oprah's book club selections but just saw this on the web.

Last week while browsing the new book shelf in library I saw this debut novel, THE TWELVE TRIBES OF HATTIE, picked it up but returned it to the shelf as was picking up some reserve books. Will be interesting to see if Oprah's recommendations still sends books to the top of the reading lists!

This sounds like another version of "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Wilkerson which I read last year. I read most of the Oprah picks as they are generally great human interest stories. She is the kiss of gold. I even read "A Million Little Pieces" by Frey, although the book was discredited. It was still a good read. I just had to change the genre from truth to fiction. It is $12.95 on Kindle but if I see it in the used bookstore or library I will pick it up.
