Sadly I haven't opened a book in a week as have been traveling! Had a blast at my 60th high school reunion! Best one ever! Sue Grafton's W IS FOR WASTED is by my bed at home. Ergo, tomorrow night it's back to the books. YAY!!!!!

I left her in the midst of her Roman Empire books.  I think I read two or three but have not revisited. "Morgan's Runs" seems to be a popular one that takes place in her native Australia and most worth reading.  It's 900 pages long so it had better be worth reading.

This book is more crime/thriller and it was a good one for me. (The Prodigal Son)

My final "I just finished" post for October 2013.  It was A Tap on the Window by Linwood Barclay. Barclay writes pretty good thrillers, and, although somewhat long at 500 pages, it was quite readable.  So if you like thrillers, I can recommend it.

The Thorn Birds...one of my Top 10 favorite books of all time. I tried to read the next book...actually the next 3 books of hers....couldn't connect. I'll look at your suggestion.

Linwood Barclay...need to review what I've read before and this new one you mention, Lorouch.

Oh I started "Storm Front" by John Sanford. Pretty far fetched and contrived...gee, I sound like Grumpy Gerda these days?

Like you, CAROLYN, haven't found anything especially captivating lately.  Currently involved in Margaret Atwood's ALIAS GRACE.  It's based on a true story which I'll research. Library robot, Vince, just called and I now have a third book awaiting my pick-up. I may be slithering into the shadows for the next three weeks! ;)  Will let you know what will be my first read for Nov.!

Rapa! Atwood...I want to read her but she is above my pay grade! Lol! Props to you!

I'm into a little something different, a fantasy adventure called, "Once We Were Kings." http://www.amazon.com/Once-Were-Kings-Fantasy-Sojourner-ebook/dp/B0...

I got a surprise this month, as Amazon Prime has added a new bonus on the monthly free book you can borrow.

First, I borrowed "Last Train to Istanbul" which takes place in one of my favorite cities.  http://www.amazon.com/Last-Train-Istanbul-Novel-ebook/dp/B00BJ8YD78...

Then I was informed that starting this month, Prime Members are entitled to a monthly download of a free copy of a soon to be released book.  Four were offered and I selected "Silent Echo."  http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Echo-J-R-Rain/dp/147780885X

So you like the amazon Prime membership, Mandy?  I've been trying to decide whether or not to sign up for it; then a read an article the other day that it's not worth it becuz the 1-free-ebook-a-month selection was all old stuff.  But sounds like from what you say that they've improved the selection.
