I was unaware that libraries pay a premium to own e-books

Here is an article by an e-book author explaining the background and pointing to a petition to publishers to change that system

Good article - I'm forwarding the link to our library manager. Thanks!

Great article; thanks, LS!

Yes, very interesting.  I have stopped getting ebooks from the library because the wait was long and the selection not so good.  Now I know why...

Same here.  I haven't even looked at their e-books for quite a while.  A couple weeks ago I got a notice that an e-book I had requested months ago was available; I had totally forgotten ordering it and already had gotten the actual book from the same library system.

I get my ebooks on line I have Windows 8 OS and there are several free apps for specific books (Lord of the Rings (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and The Silmarillion)), The Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games and so many more.  I currently have 4 ebooks on the go - The Hunger Games series,  Gai Jin by James Clavell, A Robert Asprin book, and a PC Cast book House of Night novel
