Probably the greatest theme in adventure books is "a quest for the holy grail."  Nelson DeMille, a noted author of many best sellers, rewrote a novel he had written in the 1970s and titled it simply, "The Quest."  A quartet of adventurers set off to finds the goblet that Jesus used at the last supper in Ethiopia, based on a tale of an old priest who had been imprisoned for 40 years. Great adventure so far as they search for a black monastery in the jungles of Africa.

Just finished 2 books by Joseph Finder: Vanished and Buried Secrets, both featuring a Reacher-like hero, Nick Heller. Finder is a good thriller author and they both moved along at a fast pace.  The endings get a little confusing at times, lots computer tricks, international intrigue and political high-finance.

I've read them both, Carci. And I, too, have enjoyed Finder's thrillers.

New York City novels

Some of the great literature of the world has been written about New York City and it's people. No matter what your feelings are about the city, it is an interesting place with interesting people.  Accordingly, over the years I have read many of the stories but yesterday I ran across a deal on "The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton. It won the Pulitzer and is considered one op the finest books about the city ever written.  The Amazon cost was .33 cents and anther .67 cents got me a professional narration that I play concurrently with my reading or just listen to.  Wow, I added "The House of Mirth," Wharton's other NYC classic.  I think I read those books back about 65 years ago, but I don't remember the plots.

Here is a list of novels that take place in the city: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/13633.Best_Books_Set_in_New_Yor...
