I just finished reading The Tea Girl on Hummingbird Lane and I read The Wonder last month.  Both were excellent!!  Several others are on my TBR list....the list that just keeps growing and growing.

I just finished "Tea Girl" - enjoyed it very much - would have liked a more detailed ending - or an epilogue.

I haven't read any of these. I haven't had a lot of time to read lately although I am half way through a book my granddaughter recommended.  I was just on Bloglovn and found this web site Perpetual Page Turner and she has a list of historical novels That looked like it might have some good ones too.   Scroll down a bit to see the post about historical novels.

I forgot to share about this earlier.  I picked up a book at the Friends of the Library sale a few years ago and have just now started reading it.  The book is The American Reader by Paul M. Angle.  It was published in 1958 and has journal/diary accounts, letters, and other first person accounts about things in History from 1492 to January 1958.  

I am enjoying the accounts of many things from war, to baseball, to Sputnik and much more.  The thing which I like best is the language.  My pastor told us that since the 50's people are using less than 2000 words in their vocabulary.  Before the 50's people used double and more.  I am not sure where she got that statistic but I found it very interesting.  I see/hear it in old magazines, newspapers, films/tv, and books.  It was something I noticed long before my pastor said anything.  

But back to the book.  I am enjoying it quite a lot.  I am seeing glimpses of life and events, during the years this book covers, from a more intimate position.
