An ambitious new project went live today with

http://dp.la/

It has a huge amount of information (2 million items to start with) which is searchable and downloadable.

Here is an example of a view of the items that Harvard has contributed. Try putting a search word of your own

Here is a map of where the information comes from (try zooming in and out)

Another step in the information age!  I was just thinking today what tremendous changes have happened over my lifetime in the availability of written and oral communication, as well as literature being available at a finger tip.  I can get up to the minute news from a number of sources all at the same time.  I can be reading a book that I just saw recommended within a minute. In fact I just did download a book recommended by USA Today and started reading that book within the past hour.  It is Nicholas Sparks, "The Best of Me," which is available on Kindle for $3.99.

I wonder what this new concept of a Public Library will do to change the habits of the reading public?

Oh jeez, this is a site where I can lose myself for days on end! I'm in big trouble........

FANTASTIC!!!!!   Thanks, Lip Service!!!!
