Have any of you read this new release by Joyce Carol Oates?  It's a riveting, disturbing story of the abduction of a five year old boy by an evil predator. Six years of brain washing the child and the psychological effects on the grieving parents are the basis for this story. Painful to read and terrifying to know that these things do happen in real life.  http://www.amazon.com/Daddy-Love-Joyce-Carol-Oates/dp/0802120997/re...

sounds really good.Since joining this group I have so many books on my to read list.Lucky I have the NOOK, as I buy them as you recommend them and put on the shelf till time to read. Thanks

I have read a lot of Oates over the years.  I believe she is a Prof at Princeton.  This looks interesting.

Yes, Oates is a professor of humanities at Princeton and lives in New Jersey.

A quote from the book flap reads:  "A brave novel of sheer suspense, Oates once again proves that she has no equal in exploring the dark corners of the human heart."

Oh this sounds too depressing for me. Our book club is reading "behind Beautiful Forever..." And 60 pages later I am finding it depressing and it's non-fiction so even more depressing reading about the slums in India.
