BABY'S FIRST LIBRARY

Our granddaughter's friends gave her a baby shower recently. Our great granddaughter, Scarlett Maureen, is due to arrive in mid May. The shower had a book theme so Scarlett has the start of her first library. Cheers! As the shower was in Provo, Utah, I couldn't attend but here are a couple pictures from the shower. I thought the book theme was brilliant!!! :)

Did you notice that the Green Eggs and Ham book is in French? Nini is tri-lingual and an avid reader.

Yes, I did. I forgot that those books were translated into many languages. Hopefully Nini will share her gift for languages with Scarlett Maureen.

Yes, a very good idea... my neice was given a baby shower a couple of years ago and the suggestion was to get a children's book instead of a card and to sign it... that way it would be forever kept as a remembrance of the shower where a card would be discarded after a time. I went to 1/2 price books and found a very fun kid's book as cheap as most greeting cards...

I love the idea of foreign language books for a child. I was educated in French and English in a bi-lingual parochial school and most of my first books were in French. I used to purchase youth books in Spanish when I undertook the learning of that language a little later in life. I once sat on a plane flight from Santiago, Chili to Miami next to a six year old and we read his Spanish books together. Children learn foreign languages easily, as it comes naturally to them. What a grand idea is a book theme for a shower. We are having one for my first grandchild next month. The heritage is French and German so perhaps a copy of a German and French child's book may be appropriate.
