Now that August is here, are you finding any cool spots to curl up with a good book?  Will be 103 here tomorrow!

I'm about 2/3 finished with THE NEVER LIST by Koethi Zan.  The story is very timely as it deals with some girls held captive for three years in a dungeon-like cellar by a connoisseur of sadism. Sound familiar?

Loved Leaving the Comfort Café on my Kindle...  If they offer it for free again, grab it!   Very entertaining & humorous.

Just finished As I Sleep, another Kindle freebee. It was just OK...  teenage time travel...

Starting Children of the Fog today.

Finished my last read for August.  It was THE OCEAN AT THE END OF THE LANE, a novel by Neil Gaiman.  This is a short book of 178 pages.  The story begins in Sussex, England, when a middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. This tale is in the fantasy genre and beautifully stirring with memories, magic and survival. Not usually my cup of tea but thoroughly enjoyed the book.  Probably would be a good choice for many F2F book clubs.

BTW, really loved the back cover which is an actual photo taken when the author was a young boy. It ties in wonderfully with an event in the book.

Finishing up what I selected from the 32 Books that could change your life. Life of Pi...loved first 50 pages about why we should not feel sorry for zoo animals. Then had to bail. Don't let me Go...first 20 pages didn't capture me. Now, 1/2 way thru WhiteOleander ...starting to skim...blow thru it. Very depressing and longing for another Carl Hiaason story!

Guess I'm art the age where we start saying we don't have 10 good years...we have 10 Good Summers.

I'm going into Sept with the 1009 page "A Clash of Kings" by George R. R. Martin to read this month.  "A Game of Thrones" got me hook, line and sinker.  I have the maps on my PC, genealogy charts and character guides.  This is volume 2 of 5 that are in print.  The series, "A Song of Ice and Fire," will have seven books total when all written.  I am also viewing the HBO series that has three books in movie form.  This is probably the most ambitious fantasy story ever undertaken.
